  • The Peace Testimony

    The Peace Testimony

I told them I lived in the virtue of that life and power that took away the occasion of all wars”

    ~ George Fox, 1651

  • Simplicity

    Simplicity

May we look upon our treasures, and the furniture of our houses, and the garments in which we array ourselves, and try whether the seeds of war have nourishment in these our possessions, or not.

    ~ John Woolman

  • The Inward Light

    The Inward Light

There is a principle which is pure placed in the human mind, which in different places and ages hath had different names; it is, however, pure, and proceeds from God. It is deep and inward, confined to no forms of religion, nor excluded from any, when the heart stands in perfect sincerity. In whomsoever this takes root and grows, they become brethren.

    ~ John Woolman

  • Teaching Justice

    Teaching Justice

My activism did not spring from my being gay, or, for that matter, from my being black. Rather, it is rooted fundamentally in my Quaker upbringing and the values that were instilled in me by my grandparents who reared me.

    ~ Bayard Rustin

  • Equality

    Equality

I long for the day my sisters will rise, and occupy the sphere to which they are called by their high nature and destiny.

Any great change must expect opposition, because it shakes the very foundation of privilege.

    ~ Lucretia Mott
